    As per scriptures, one needs to begin from the Meru bead, complete the chant of 108 and reverse the mala and complete the next cycle of 108 chants. Ensure that while chanting, one does not cross the Meru bead. 

    It is advisable to avoid sharing the Japa mala with others for chants (Japa).
